  • Actually, I think that is a ridiculous piece of legislation. This three-tiered temporal classification of undocumented migrants is absurd. All it would achieve is to create another massive black market, this time for documents which purport to show that the migrant in question has been here longer for 5 years. I mean, come on, if they had firm evidence of how long they had been in the country, they wouldn't be undocumented migrants!!! Furthermore, what kind of assurances are the undocumenteds going to have that they won't be thrown out of the country if their documents aren't accepted by the DHS??? Could this whole idea not be a trojan horse to get undocumenteds to unwittingly turn themselves over and allow the DHS to throw them out of the country? What kind of idiots formulated this bizarre plan? Clearly, the crack-peddlers on Capitol Hill are doing some good business. Anyway, here's my prediction for the compromise-bill: 500 miles of border fencing, more cells for undocumenteds, and mandatory detention of non-Mexican undocumenteds. That's about all I think they will be able to agree on.
